U.S. will invite Singapore to G20
United States considers to invite Singapore and Thailand in Group meetings 20 (G20) this month in Pittsburgh. The plan aims to gain a broader view of developing countries.
With the participation of these two Asian countries, also Washingthon balance hopeĀ growing influence of European nations in talks on financial policy issues and global warming. Such as reported by Nikkei newspaper, and quoted by the Straits Times, Monday (14/9/2009).
On payment of salaries and bonuses in the financial sector, France and Germany have been pressing hard the need for restrictions, while the United Kingdom, United States, and Canada refused.
Washington to consider Singapore as a representative of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and Thailand as a representative of the countries of Southeast Asia.
Their participation is expected to push the G20 to make a substantial dialogue on a number of issues, including supporting developing countries in cutting carbon dioxide emissions, and strengthen their voice in the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
