IMF-led Throwing Shoes

imf-logoLeadership of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Dominique Strauss-Kahn, unfortunate fate. When he was lecturing at Bilgi University in Istanbul, Turkey, sport shoes he was thrown by a protester.

Several other protesters stood up, clapping, and shouting that the IMF has colluded with the Government of Turkey that have been negotiating for new loans since last year. “The IMF thief! IMF creator of the war and make poor people!” they shouted.

After the incident, a spokesman for the IMF, Caroline Atkinson, told reporters provide an ironic reaction to the incident. “Managing Director said, the students at least polite enough to wait until the end for discussion,” he said.

The IMF, he added, need to talk and listen to everyone, although he did not agree with the international financial institutions.

Strauss-Kahn was in Istanbul to attend a meeting of knowledge between the IMF and World Bank next week.
