Highest China Farmer Income Records

china-farmerBEIJING – The average annual income of farmers in China was recorded at 5000 yuan (USD732) this year due to increased demand for migrant workers who send a lot of money to be sent back to the countryside.

Reporting from the AFP, Tuesday (29/12/2009), per capita net income of farmers rose more than six percent in 2009 compared to last year. As reported by Xinhua news agency, income is rising because of the rural policies issued by the central government.

This increase was partly driven by the recovery will be demand for migrant workers, such as factories and construction companies began hiring them again. This was taken when economic conditions began to improve.

As is known, nearly 20 million migrant workers lost their jobs at the beginning of the year because of the closed factories or cutting production occurs in response to falling exports from the main markets in Europe and the United States (U.S.).

According to official data issued by the government, China now has approximately 225 million migrant workers. However, the government said that 96 percent of them have found new jobs in the cities in September.

In addition, higher incomes in rural areas has created an important condition for increasing domestic consumption, such as Beijing are looking for ways to reduce dependence on foreign exports to stimulate economic growth.

Therefore, in the context of the increasing importance of restoration of rural consumption to China as a whole, the government of China will continue to subsidize the cost of household consumption for farmers next year.
